Accessibility

We want everyone who visits Gilgooma — in person or online — to feel welcome, comfortable, and informed.

Our family lives and works here, and we know that rural spaces can come with both beauty and challenges. This page explains how we’re working to make Gilgooma more accessible, what we currently offer, and how you can plan your visit with confidence.

We’re a real working farm and our accessibility journey is ongoing. Some areas are naturally uneven, and weather can change access conditions. Still, we’re committed to doing our best to make our accommodation, events, and online information as inclusive and easy to navigate as possible.

Our goal is simple: that everyone, regardless of age or ability, can experience the calm, connection, and country hospitality that Gilgooma is known for.

Physical Accessibility

Farmstay and Campground

  • Vehicle access and parking areas are flat gravel surfaces.

  • The cabin has a small entry step but level internal flooring.

  • Pathways between key areas are wide and mostly step-free (surfaces may be uneven in wet or dry conditions).

  • Accessible toilets are available at the campground.

  • Shaded seating is available at various points around the property.

Events

  • Paddock events, such as our Paddock Picnic long lunch, are held outdoors on grass or compacted earth.

  • Accessible parking and drop-off points are available.

  • Event staff and volunteers can assist with seating, transfers, or movement around the site.

If you have particular mobility needs, please contact us before your visit so we can make practical arrangements where possible.

Informational Accessibility

We know that planning a rural visit can feel uncertain, so we aim to make information clear, direct, and easy to find.

  • Our website is being improved to meet WCAG 2.1 Web Accessibility Standards.

  • We use plain English and high-contrast fonts where possible.

  • All images include alternative text for screen readers.

  • Videos and social content are being updated with captions or transcripts.

  • Written information (like itineraries, menus or directions) can be provided in large print or plain text on request.

Assistance and Support

Our team (the family) — are here to assist. Assistance animals are welcome, along with all other pets. We can help guests with luggage, directions or movement around the site. If you need extra support during your stay, please let us know in advance so we can prepare.
